19 January 2024, first appointment of the second cycle of lessons promoted by FMAV Fondazione Modena Arti Visive.

Three Talks to delve deeper into the relationship between contemporary art and the technological innovations of the world we are living in and understand the latest trends in artistic research in the Media Arts and acquire indispensable tools for reading our hyper-technological society, imagining new futuristic scenarios and possible relationships with intelligent machines.

The cycle is part of the programming of Modena Città Creativa Media Arts and will be held at AGO Modena Fabbriche Culturali (Largo di Porta Sant’Agostino 228, Modena), former Chapel.

Entrance is free, subject to availability.

Thanks to the collaboration with MEMO Municipality of Modena, the meetings are valid as a training experience for teachers of all levels. The Order of Architects of Modena also recognizes training credits for architects registered with the Order who participate in the lessons.

    Distorted worlds. Digital representation systems
    Lesson by Evan Roth, artist
    The American artist Evan Roth, based in Berlin, focuses on distortions in the representation of reality in the world of networks. Working with photography, video, installation and painting challenges our perception. By analyzing the involuntary uses of tools and technologies, his work explores the personal and cultural impacts related to these changes. </ Li>

    Performing arts between technologies and Metaverse
    Lesson by Federica Patti, curator
    The Metaverse is profoundly changing the way we experience digital. This makes us rethink concepts such as reality, space-time, simulation, identity and community. Federica Patti takes us on a journey through works that show how aesthetics has been changing since the beginning of the Millennium, uniting different disciplines and going beyond anthropocentrism.

    Art and “intelligent” ecosystems
    Lesson by Marco Mancuso, critic
    The meeting with the critic and author Marco Mancuso investigates some territories of art, in the relationship with philosophy and technoscience and the impact of technologies and science on art, design and contemporary culture.

Federica Patti, art historian and curator – in February 2024 guest of FMAV Fondazione Modena Arti Visive – focuses her research on multimedia arts, on interactive and participatory projects.

For Città Creativa Media Arts addresses two highly topical issues in the context of the interaction between art and technology: today’s notion of digital performance and the advent of the Metaverse.< /p>

What is digital performance?
How does a performance take place in the Metaverse and what implications does it have compared to more traditional experiences?
