The main activity of the Teatro Comunale di Modena in the Media Arts sector is dedicated to video communication with particular reference to streaming performances, especially in the opera field.
The Municipal Theatre of Modena and the EDUNOVA centre of the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia have continuously undertaken a multi-year activity of video transmission of live streaming performances, achieving a quality that is recognised as one of the best at national level in this sector.
The expertise acquired and the collaboration with the university centre EDUNOVA have allowed the Teatro Comunale di Modena (as an accredited body for higher education) to realise, starting in 2018, for the first time in Italy, a professional higher education course on video communication in live performance.
In March 2023 About Birdsa work composed by the multifaceted, multimedia artist Yuval Avital. Visual arts and music meet in Avital's work. A fusion of different genres and disciplines, an innovative storytelling that combines the different languages of technology in the creation process and during the performance (Curated by Teatro Comunale Pavarotti-Freni, in collaboration with FMAV Fondazione Modena Arti Visive).
