Il Dondolo, the digital publishing house of the Municipality of Modena, returns to the Turin Book Fair, where it had already been in 2017, the year of its foundation, to present the characteristics and activities of a civic experience unique in Italy, which has reached 69 titles in its catalogue and exceeded one hundred thousand downloads.
As part of the presentation, scheduled for Friday 19 May at 12.30 p.m., Modena City Council Culture Councillor Andrea Bortolamasi and publishing director Beppe Cottafavi will also present the new releases: "Casa d'altri" by Silvio D'Arzo, "Io bambino cretino", the first novel by Salvo Cotrino, the second-hand bookseller from via Canalino, and, a year after her death, the collection of Adriana Querzè's writings entitled "Scuola, città, relazioni. The look beyond the present of Adriana Querzè'.
On the occasion of its participation in the Salone, Modena has launched a communication campaign, with posters and postcards, that emphasises four main themes of the Dondolo: "Modena and its lands", with stories by Ugo Cornia, Barbara Baraldi, Francesca Bussi, and Sandro Campani; "Antonio Delfini. A great writer of the 20th century", with texts by Delfini himself, Cesare Garboli, Natalia Ginzburg, and Pier Paolo Pasolini; "Dondoli d'arte" with the masterpieces of the Galleria Estense narrated by Martina Bagnoli, the stories of Paul Campani, the works of Cesare Leonardi and Gianni Valbonesi; the "Sognalib(e)ro", with the stories of inmates in Italian prisons. The feature of the campaign is that all selected titles can be downloaded free of charge via the QR Code below each image.
As councillor Bortolamasi emphasises, 'at the Book Fair we will present a choral tale of our territory with its stories and protagonists. We are happy to be able to tell a project that is growing and expanding its catalogue. In addition, with the 'interactive' poster campaign we are trying to encourage reading for all and sundry with a simple and by now customary gesture such as framing a QR Code that opens the door to a world of stories, ideas and tales'.
Il Dondolo, with the support of Bper Banca, produces unpublished ebooks of fiction, non fiction, non-fiction, art and poetry, with a focus on remarkable stories from the Modena area. In the catalogue are Walter Siti, Edmondo Berselli, Carlo Lucarelli, Barbara Baraldi, Stefano Massini, as well as historical recoveries by Antonio Delfini, Silvio D'Arzo, Angelo Fortunato Formiggini and critical contributions by Natalia Ginzburg, Pier Paolo Pasolini, Cesare Garboli. Then there are the ebooks dedicated to Luigi Ghirri, Gianni Celati, Cesare Leonardi, Vasco Rossi, Paul Campani and the wonderful history of Paul Film, Gulp and Supergulp, the history of comics on TV, the masterpieces of the Pinacoteca Estense and an anthology of the best Emilian writers.
The ebooks of the Dondolo can be downloaded free of charge from the publishing house's website (ildondolo.it) and from the Mlol platform (mlol.it), Italy's most important digital library that networks more than six thousand public libraries.
The project is directed by Beppe Cottafavi with contributions from Andrea Zanni, Silvia Sitton and the art direction of Patty Di Gioia and Giorgio Di Mitri.
