Call for ideas' for young people aged between 18 and 30 published on the website. Deadline 15 January
The Municipality of Modena has published on its website the "call for ideas" to identify a logotype brand that will identify "Modena Unesco Creative City 2021" in the Media Arts cluster during the candidacy process. The initiative intends to offer young people new opportunities for active participation and involvement in the cultural life of the territory. Participants, individually or in groups of a maximum of four, must be aged between 18 and 30. The objective of the call for entries is to identify a brand capable of strongly and coherently communicating the bid with a graphic element summarising its guiding values. The one chosen will be used in the candidature process by the municipality and project partners. If Modena is designated, it will be completed with the Unesco symbol and used, in this second version, in the following four-year period until the city maintains its position in the Media Arts sphere. The call for entries with information, procedures and application forms is online on the municipal website (www.comune.modena.it and www.comune.modena.it/cultura). For further information, you can contact the Culture Office e-mail address (settore.cultura@comune.modena.it) indicating the subject of your application and your telephone number where you will be called back. The deadline is 15 January 2021. A prize of one thousand five hundred euro will go to the proposal chosen by a committee. For second and third place the prize will amount to 800 and 500 euros respectively. The logo must be original, characterised for Media Arts and unrelated to the Unesco World Heritage site of Piazza Grande with the Cathedral and Ghirlandina; it must be highly recognisable and versatile in any dimension without losing effectiveness and legibility; it must also be able to be used in black and white, if it is to be used in colour, and be easy to place alongside the Unesco logo, as well as the coat of arms of the Municipality of Modena or other partners; it must be available in Italian and English. The proposal shall meet the need for use on various communication media including: web portal, social, posters, audiovisual and multimedia, merchandising. The proposed creative idea must be accompanied by the motivation and user manual. The commission will evaluate the proposals according to their consistency with the identity and aims of the project Modena Creative City Unesco 2021 Media Arts; the immediacy and communicative force; the consistency of the motivations with the proposal; the accuracy and technical correctness. Modena's candidacy as Unesco Creative City 2021 is the first of an Italian city in the Media Arts 'cluster', in the sign of a reality that invests in digital and technologies applied to cultural languages in a city that, also due to its great urban transformations, has identified culture as a fundamental thread. The Creative Cities Network is a Unesco programme active since 2004, involving a network of over 200 cities from 72 countries on five continents. The aim of the Network is to promote knowledge, cooperation and projects among cities that have identified culture and creativity as the driving force behind their development. The watchwords are collaboration, sharing of knowledge and good practices, confrontation, planning, valorisation of intangible cultural heritage. Through the Network, in seven areas corresponding to as many cultural sectors - Music, Literature, Crafts and Folk Arts and Traditions, Design, Media Arts, Gastronomy, Cinema - cities can enhance their experiences and skills on national and international markets.
