Writing, image and representation of the body were the focus of the video work by the collective auroraMeccanica for AGO, a project with FMAV Fondazione Modena Arti Visive.
The visual installation took inspiration from the future of this space, which will house various cultural institutions, collections and digital projects. In fact, the artistic reworking takes its starting point from the findings of the Anatomical Museums of the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, the collections of the Figurine Museum and the digitised manuscripts on the Lodovico Platform - the DHMoRe's Digital Library - reinterpreted by a digital artist, a calligrapher and four performers.
Through three acts, aroraMeccanica investigated the process of determining the body in the contemporary world
In the first act, the calligrapher's gestures trace the history of writing, from tattoos to algorithms, and reveal, through the light of video projections, the performers' tensed bodies.
In the second act, digitised texts from the Lodovico Platform and decompositions of shapes taken from works in the Museo della Figurina dance following trajectories and rhythms dictated by an image analysis algorithm.
In the third act, the exhibits from the Museum of Anatomy are the starting point for an abstract representation of the disintegration of body forms, obtained from three-dimensional analyses of the exhibits themselves.
