“Alberi Maestri” è una piattaforma nata con l’obiettivo di mapping trees and make the green cultural heritage of cities around the world accessible.

I cittadini, le associazioni e tutti i soggetti interessati sono invitati a partecipare attivamente, segnalando “alberi maestri” ritenuti particolarmente rilevanti per le loro caratteristiche botaniche o per il loro significato storico, culturale, sociale o comunitario.

Users can upload texts, audio files, photos, drawings or other useful documents to describe the selected trees.

The platform was officially presented on 23 and 24 June 2025 at the UNESCO Creative Cities Annual Conference in Enghien-les-Bains (Paris), as the 'Master Trees' project was selected as a best practice to be disseminated in the cities of the UNESCO Network.

Il progetto è stato sviluppato dal Comune di Modena Assessorato alla Cultura e dalla Fondazione Archivio Leonardi, in collaborazione con la città creativa tedesca di Karlsruhe, nell’ambito di Festival Trees.

If you take a look, besides those in Modena, there are already some trees in Bologna, Milan, Rome, Bolzano and Pesaro.
