The city's growth, its national and international dimension also depends on its ability to guarantee widespread cultural education, production and participation: a material and immaterial infrastructure that strengthens our city community.
Awarded the title of UNESCO Creative City for Media Arts, the only Italian city, Modena boasts a rich cultural programme made up of festivals and exhibitions with the programming of FMAV - Fondazione Modena Arti Visive (with artists such as Candice Breitz, Carsten Nicolai, Jordi Colomer among others) and the activities of its School of Higher Education, the presence of galleries such as METRONOM and the historic Galleria D'arte Mazzoli, the flourishing of independent spaces such as Gate 26A a calendar of events in 2024 dedicated to the photographer Franco Fontana, the 'free walls' project offered to writers and artists in the city, such as Andrea Chiesi'.
