Modena as a creative city

Andrea Bortolamasi, councillor for culture: 'An award that rewards the great networking work of the Promotion Committee"

Modena is a Unesco Creative City for Media Arts and the first city in Italy to receive this recognition. The nomination was formalised on Monday 8 November 2021, in Paris, by Unesco Director General Audrey Azoulay during the general conference that designated 49 new Creative Cities in the world.

THE ROUTE

Il percorso di candidatura è stato un’opportunità per il rilancio della cultura e per rafforzare il brand Modena emphasising its nature as an open and fertile city for the youngwhich keeps its manufacturing roots strong but also looks to the future as a creative citywhere culture and technology dialogue, thanks to a network of qualified actors interacting.

Le Media arts rappresentano, oggi, una categoria che riassume innovazione e creatività, sperimentazione e ricerca; Modena come Città Creativa Unesco investe sui nuovi linguaggi applicati agli ambiti culturali.

The Creative Cities Network is a Unesco programme active since 2004, involving a network of 408 citiesof 100 countries of the five continents. The aim of the Network is to promote knowledge, cooperation and projects between cities that have identified culture and creativity as the driving forces of their development.

Attraverso il Network le città possono enhancing one's experiences and capabilities on national and international markets.

Quella di Modena è stata una process application, because the transformation of the city is an ongoing process: places and spaces, regenerated as new places and new spaces where culture and technology, humanistic and scientific knowledge, dialogue. The axes of intervention, in which the projects and processes underway are summarised, involve the subjects that give life to the Promoter Committee.
