New voices of authors, from Michelina Borsari to Valeria Parrella to Paolo Giordano. The writer from Turin will be the protagonist on Tuesday 14th October of an afternoon meeting in the Leccio courtyard<\/strong><\/p>\n

Il Dondolo is now a digital library that belongs to the city and reflects its cultural vitality. The digital publishing house of the Municipality of Modena, launched in 2017 and directed by Beppe Cottafavi, continues to build - title after title - an archive of short novels, short stories, reflections and beauty accessible to all, free of charge, alive. With over ninety publications available at www.ildondolo.it, the autumn season also opens with new voices and new stories, between literature, philosophy and memory, offering the city a constant dialogue between writing and landscape.<\/p>\n

The new publications of the Dondolo were presented in the morning today, in the courtyard of the Leccio (Holm oak tree) of the San Paolo complex, via Selmi 67, by Culture Councillor Andrea Bortolamasi, publishing director Beppe Cottafavi and Caterina Zanfi, philosophy researcher and niece of Michelina Borsari.<\/p>\n

\"Il Dondolo,\" explains Councillor Bortolamasi, \"confirms itself as one of the most innovative publishing projects on the national scene; a project born in Modena, which sees the Municipality of Modena as publisher and which tells, through voices, faces, characters, the history and stories of our city. A choral work, networked with different cultural subjects, represents one of the most important elements of Modena as a Unesco creative city for media-arts and a formidable tool for promoting reading, for all and everyone, without barriers to entry, using the pervasiveness of digital media, the library system and the ability to re-invent itself with each publication.\"<\/p>\n

It will be the courtyard of the Leccio, one of the most beautiful monumental trees in Italy, that will host Paolo Giordano tomorrow Tuesday 14th October at 5pm for a meeting dedicated to his new ebook \"Scrivere la natura\". The writer from Turin - Strega prize-winner with \"La solitudine dei numeri primi\" and author of the remarkable \"Tasmania\" - will talk with Beppe Cottafavi and Andrea Cavani, curator of the Leonardi Archive.<\/p>\n

In the text, taken from his talk at the recent Alberi Festival, Giordano reflects on how writing can restore the voice of nature, while also telling a lot about himself, in a sort of amused intellectual autobiography. It was on that occasion that the author discovered the work of Cesare Leonardi, fell in love with it and wanted one of his famous PR4 chairs for himself, which will be officially presented to him during the meeting.<\/p>\n

The meeting will open with a short performance: it will be the great holm oak tree itself, through the voice of the \"We, trees\" project, that will tell its own story, in a fifteen-minute narrative curated by director Giulio Costa as part of Alberi Festival. A poetic prelude to an encounter that promises to be a dialogue between literature and landscape, between words and roots. The theme \"Writing Nature\" will also become the leitmotif of the writing workshop organised by Il Dondolo and Rotary Club Modena for the next edition of Alberi Festival in 2026.<\/p>\n

Among its new publications, Il Dondolo dedicates a tribute to Michelina Borsari, the creator and soul of festivalfilosofia, who passed away last 21 August. Entitled \"Eccoci\" (Here we are), the posthumous collection of the twenty articles that the Modenese intellectual wrote between 2019 and 2024 for the Manifesto: a small treasure chest of thought that restores her voice in all its energy, curiosity and grace. 'Here we are' was his favourite word, the one with which he opened and closed his speeches, like an invitation to presence, a gesture of trust towards the world. The cover, signed by Wainer Vaccari, takes the reader on a journey that is both intellectual and emotional.<\/p>\n

To complete the autumn triptych, Il Dondolo also presents the first episode of Valeria Parrella's new feuilleton, 'Canalgrande. Where is the water?\". Having just moved from Naples to Modena, the writer - author of novels such as \"Lo spazio bianco\" (adapted to the cinema by Francesca Comencini, starring Margherita Buy) and \"Almarina\", and short story collections such as \"Mosca pi\u00f9 balena\" (2003), \"Troppa importanza all'amore\" (2015) and, most recently, \"Piccoli miracoli e altri tradimenti\" (2024) - inaugurates a serialised story that mixes irony, insight and enchantment, observing the city with new eyes. Between Canalgrande, Canalchiaro and Canalino, Parrella builds a poetic geography of streets and absences, where even the gesture of drinking a coffee becomes an occasion for revelation. 'The measure of storytelling is a small miracle,' says the writer, and her new text for Il Dondolo is luminous proof of this.<\/p>\n

The autumn catalogue also features \"Una notte sono morta e altre voci dei morti del cimitero San Cataldo\" (One Night I Died and Other Voices of the Dead in the San Cataldo Cemetery) by Mirandola writer Elena Bosi, and \"Il farmacista\" by Franco Guandalini, husband of soprano Rajna Kabaivanska, who passed away on 23 August at the age of 96, a lively portrait of a life spent among art, theatre and illustrious friendships, narrated by his nephew Carlo Bordone. The cover features a photo by Cesare Leonardi.<\/p>\n

All of Il Dondolo's ebooks are available not only on the website www.ildondolo.it, but also in the catalogue of EmiLib, the digital library of Emilia-Romagna: a platform that is also quite popular with Italians living abroad, who through the pages of Il Dondolo can find a link with a literature that is 'local' only in terms of origin, never in terms of horizon. Thanks to digital technology, in fact, stories born in Modena now travel beyond regional and national borders, reaching an increasingly vast and curious public.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n\n\t
