Over 100,000 euro from the Ministry of Culture for the municipal initiative inspired by the work of Cesare Leonardi and to be held in the Artisan Village<\/strong><\/div>\n

Inspired by the projects and drawings of architects Cesare Leonardi and Franca Stagi, the 'Building the City of Trees' festival for which the Municipality of Modena has obtained a grant of 106,900 euro from the Ministry of Culture's General Directorate for Contemporary Creativity as part of the call for Architecture Festivals to raise awareness of contemporary Italian architecture.<\/p>\n

The project presented by the municipality (which obtained a total score of 96\/100) is built around the idea that trees can be a tool through which to investigate and reorganise the contemporary city and is inspired by the twenty years of research work by Modenese architects Leonardi and Stagi on the design of parks and urban greenery, which resulted in the 1982 volume \"L'architettura degli alberi\" (The Architecture of Trees), which has become a reference manual for landscape design at an international level.<\/p>\n

The Craftsman's Village and the Leonardi Archive will therefore be the venue for \"Building the City of Trees\", scheduled from 7 to 13 April 2025 but with previews as early as the autumn: the architect's house-studio, the craftsman's workshops, disused spaces, industrial courtyards and the new Green Diagonal will become the venue for lectures, exhibitions with archive material, multimedia installations, itineraries and guided tours, workshops for children and adults for a week.<\/p>\n

The festival is organised in collaboration with the Leonardi Foundation and in association with Amigdala, the Emilia Romagna Region, UniMoRe, the Municipality of Vignola, The City of Trees in Bosco Albergati, Italia Nostra \/ Bosco in citt\u00e0. Partners and supporters are the associations Fuse*, Bunker, LazyDog press, AlberItalia, Gellner association, Rotary Club. International partner is the German city of Karlsruhe which, like Modena, is part of the Unesco Creative Cities for Media Arts cluster and will host a travelling exhibition linked to the Festival.
