Fake news, ethics and artificial intelligence, imagination and reality at the centre of the ninth edition of the digital culture festival: in Modena from 26 to 29 September<\/strong><\/div>\n

From Thursday 26 to Sunday 29 September, the Smart Life Festival returns to Modena. Now in its ninth edition, this year's digital culture festival is dedicated to the theme \"True, False, X\" and aims to reflect on the boundary between true and false in the age of digital transition, to question what knowledge and skills are needed to understand it and to know how to move between reality and imagination in the age of generative AI.<\/p>\n

Smart Life Festival is promoted by the Municipality of Modena, in cooperation with local institutions, including the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, the Fondazione Collegio San Carlo, the Fondazione di Modena, the Democenter Foundation, the Province of Modena and the Chamber of Commerce of Modena.<\/p>\n

\"The festival will deal with very topical issues that must be treated with care and competence,\" says the mayor of Modena Massimo Mezzetti. \"This is why I consider the events taking place in our city in places of great beauty to be very important and will make it even more enjoyable to listen to the reflections of the guests who will participate. We must invest in cultural work that investigates the themes of a technology at the service of truth and the construction of a critical and correctly informed approach to contemporary issues. This is why I would like to thank all the actors and partners of the Smart Life Festival for their commitment in the realisation of this edition'.<\/p>\n

The event represents a space for discussion involving citizens, businesses, institutions, cultural and educational realities rooted in the territory, placing them in dialogue with national and international experiences.<\/p>\n

\"Smart Life Festival confirms itself as a space to explore the technological, cultural and social transformations of our present and their possible consequences in our daily lives,\" emphasises the president of the Fondazione Collegio San Carlo, Vittorio Lugli. \"This year's festival invites us to reflect on how innovation and digital technology have a decisive impact on our relationship with the world around us, including human and emotional relations as well as our relationship with nature in general, both by helping us to acquire a greater awareness of the reality in which we live, and by generating opportunities for conditioning or mystification with which we must learn to deal. In the age of infodemics, can there still be an objective Truth to strive for in order to achieve one's happiness? We will try to understand this in this edition'.<\/p>\n

From politics to information, from technology to education, from law to economics, from art to food, and even sport: each of these areas is not going unscathed by the changes taking place and the advent of post-truth. During Smart Life Festival the transformation of our relationship with truth will be the focus of talks, events and performances. Many guests will take turns; among them, journalist Gianni Riotta, director of the Luiss Data Lab Research Centre, who will open the festival on Thursday 26th with a focus on the new frontiers of information, together with his colleague Flavia Fratello (LA7), AI expert Rita Cucchiara and documentary filmmaker and investigative journalist Alberto Nerazzini.<\/p>\n

Once again this year, the programming will be divided into thematic areas, including Smart Tech, Smart Journalism, Smart School, Smart Politics, Smart Art, Smart Justice, Smart Food, Smart Design.<\/p>\n

Smart Life also confirms its vocation as a 'widespread festival' through the development of numerous initiatives in collaboration with realities in the area and beyond. In addition to the promoters, there are more than twenty partners participating in various ways in the composition of the programme. Among these are: After Festival, ER2Digit, Laboratorio Aperto Modena, Lepida, Fmav Fondazione Modena Arti Visive, Future Film Festival, il Mulino, Aess - Agency for Energy and Sustainable Development, ForumPa, PAsocial, Fondazione per l'Italia Digitale, Cna Modena, Confesercenti Modena, Fondazione Architetti Modena, Dialoghi (think tank), Innova (think tank).<\/p>\n

Among the collaborations launched by the ninth edition are the partnerships with Dig Festival, an international festival of investigative journalism, and with Ferrara Busker Festival, Europe's oldest and the world's largest street music festival, which will propose within Smart Life an original sound project, at the intersection of opera singing, beatboxing and artificial intelligence, developed together with H-Farm.<\/p>\n

In the run-up to the festival days, several preview events are scheduled in September, to be held in Modena and the Province.
