MEDIA ARTS UNESCO, MODENA AT THE INTERNATIONAL MEETING

In Cali, Colombia, from 1 to 3 November, the meeting of 16 creative cities that make up the network. An opportunity to promote and share projects<\/strong><\/p>\n

Modena makes its debut at the international meeting of Unesco Creative Cities for Media Arts taking place in Cali, Colombia, from 1 to 3 November and bringing together the members of the network established in 2004 to promote cooperation between cities that make creativity a strategic factor for sustainable urban development.<\/p>\n

The event, organised for the first time in Latin America, is attended by 16 of the 21 Unesco Creative Cities in the world with the aim of sharing experiences and knowledge and discussing future projects and challenges as well as promoting themselves internationally.<\/p>\n

The meeting, as underlined by the Councillor for Culture of the Municipality of Modena Andrea Bortolamasi, is a further stage in Modena's growth as a Unesco Creative City: 'The presence in Cali is an important opportunity to promote our city as a place of culture, creativity and innovation and to lay the foundations for further network projects with other cities, opening up to new realities and confirming the internationalisation vocation of the city's cultural scene protagonists.<\/p>\n

Modena, a Unesco creative city for the media arts from 8 November 2021 and the only one among the Italian creative cities in the Media arts cluster, presents itself with a video (visible on the website modenafuturacreativa.it and www.comune.modena.it) that narrates the main activities, festivals and cultural and artistic events that the city hosts, proposes and organises in the field of Media arts: from the digital publishing house Il Dondolo to DhMoRe, the UniMoRe centre that deals with the digitisation of documentary material from museums, libraries and archives of Modenese and national heritage; from 'Node' to the multimedia shows proposed by the Pavarotti-Freni Municipal Theatre from the FestivalFilosofia to the virtual reality of the Laboratorio aperto to the projects that further interweave the 'classical' arts with technological and digital languages proposed, for example, by Fem-Future education Modena, by Ago Fabbriche culturali and by Fmav-Fondazione Modena arti visive, as well as those involving the library system and the Museo Civico di Modena. All projects, activities and fact sheets of the organisations participating in Modena as a Unesco Creative City for Media Arts can be viewed on the dedicated website (modenafuturacreativa.it).<\/p>\n

The city of Modena is represented in Cali by Silvia Sitton of the Municipality of Modena and focal point Unesco Creative City and by Lorenzo Respi, Director of Exhibitions and Collections of Fmav-Fondazione Modena Arti Visive. The meeting is attended by representatives from the Danish cities of Copenhagen and Viborg; Paris and Enghien les Bains (France); Namur in Belgium; Tbilisi in Georgia; Toronto (Canada); Gwanju (South Korea); Karlsruhe (Germany); Sapporo (Japan); Hamar (Norway); Campina Grande (Brazil) Austin (Texas, USA).<\/p>\n

The programme of the meeting includes the presentation of the participating cities and the media arts activities they carry out, as well as face-to-face meetings to get to know each other and exchange information between the cities with a view to the future development of joint projects, also by intercepting European funding when possible.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
