Another step in the direction of Modena's candidacy as Unesco Creative City 2021 for Media Arts. On Friday 12 February at 11 a.m. the representatives of the ten institutes, bodies and subjects of the Modenese cultural scene that, in a network among themselves and with the Municipality, make up the 'Promoting Committee' in support of the candidacy will present themselves online. By teleconference, the representatives of the ten realities will virtually share the protocol for the presentation of the candidacy. The meeting can be followed live on Facebook, on the 'City of Modena' page. On this occasion, the logo that will accompany the entire process will also be presented. In the meantime, it has been selected from the 34 proposals received through the 'call for ideas', aimed at young people aged between 18 and 30.<\/p>\n

At the online meeting on Friday 12 February, in addition to the councillor for Culture Andrea Bortolamasi and Vittorio Salmoni, national coordinator of the Italian Creative Cities belonging to the Unesco network, who will be in charge of the presentation and keynote speech, there will be Donatella Pieri for Fondazione di Modena; Maria Chiara Montecchi for Gallerie Estensi - Mibact; Diego Teloni for Fondazione Brodolini - Laboratorio Aperto; for Fmav Gino Lugli and Lorenzo Respi; for Unimore Matteo Al Kalak; Donatella Solda for Ago - Fem; Silvia Cassanelli and Chiara Pellacani for Ert; for Fondazione Teatro Comunale Aldo Sisillo; for Art-ER Sveva Ruggiero; and, finally, Giuliano Albarani for Fondazione Collegio San Carlo.<\/p>\n

The selected logo consists of a geometric 'pictogram': two intertwined polygons, a hexagon and a rectangle. In black and white, the resulting symbol is presented in shades of grey. Polychrome, it picks up the colours of Modena's coat of arms: yellow and blue. It is accompanied by the inscription 'Modena, Candidate 2021 Media Arts, Unesco creative cities network' in a very characterised lettering. \"A logo that looks to the future, to technological transformations,' comments Andrea Bortolamasi, Councillor for Culture, 'just as the challenge we face, strong in our roots, looks to the future. Those of a city that has creative know-how in its DNA and wants to increasingly become a place where, with culture at the centre, humanistic and scientific knowledge dialogue to build the conditions for harmonious development'.<\/p>\n

The authors of the logo, \"Poltrini & Santunione\" of Vignola, who won the first prize of 1,500 Euro, describe their work as follows: \"it was produced by tracing the medieval and Roman nucleus of Modena, a hexagon and a rectangle, as a representative pictogram of the Modena Candidate city of Media Arts project, for its ability to evoke at the same time the identity of the city, its link with the past and the future, and the relationship that is to be established between technology and culture. The commission - reads the reasons for the choice - unanimously appreciated the proposal, which effectively expresses the interpenetration between past, present and future technology, and is fully consistent with the aims of the call. The immediacy and communicative force were excellent. Good coherence of the motivations; excellent precision and technical correctness'.<\/p>\n

The Creative Cities Network is a Unesco programme active since 2004, involving a network of 246 cities in 72 countries on five continents. The aim is to promote knowledge, cooperation and projects among cities that have identified culture and creativity as the driving forces of their development. The watchwords are collaboration, sharing of knowledge and good practices, confrontation, planning, valorisation of the intangible cultural heritage.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n\n\t\t\t<\/div> \n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div> \n\n\t
