Drawdown is the outcome of Unesco Media Arts' City to City project (ed. 2023) involving two artists: Austin, Texas-based media artist Lisa B Woods and Italian composer Riccardo La Foresta.

The work is the result of a three-month artistic collaboration and invites us to reflect on environmental issues and the overexploitation of natural resources, in particular the overexploitation of aquifers.

Lisa B Woods' visuals are inspired by landscape aesthetics. The artist uses satellite images of circular fields to draw attention to the way central pivot irrigation systems are depleting fossil water reserves around the world.

Riccardo La Foresta's composition for 'Drawdown' is cinematic and dramatic, characterised by echoes and imparts a sense of gravity and urgency.
